Intel is planning to launch its 13th gen Raptor Lake processors later in 2022, as the company detailed in an investor meeting on February 17, 2022. According to the presentation, Raptor Lake chips will pack up to 24 cores with a mix of up to 8 Performance and 16 Efficiency cores. Intel also teased a double-digit performance increase for its 13th gen CPUs compared to Alder Lake processors. Additionally, Raptor Lake processors will be compatible with the LGA1700 socket that is used by Alder Lake chips.

Intel neither gave exact performance figures nor did the company give an exact time frame for the launch.

According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, the “double-digit” performance increase lies somewhere between 8 – 15% for single-threaded and 30 – 40% for multi-threaded tasks. The YouTuber also hinted that Intel is planning to launch the desktop Raptor Lake-S chips late in the third quarter of 2022 followed by the mobile Raptor Lake-H/HX/U processors at the end of the fourth quarter.

MLID’s report on the launch time frame of Raptor Lake chips seems credible since Intel did show a working 13th gen CPU during the presentation, demonstrating that the new processors are much further along in the pipeline.

MLID also reported that Raptor Lake’s successor, the 14th gen Meteor Lake, is primarily a mobile architecture that will pack some "decent" upgrades and is slated to launch a year after Raptor Lake.
