Gucci is inching its way into making its own stake on the metaverse, launching an “experimental online space” with NFTs to match, of course.
The space is called Vault, which the brand describes as an “online concept store.” Named to evoke “an air of magic,” its very existence serves as a “testament” that “past, present and future can co-exist through the power of the imagination.”

“Vault is many different things at once,” the fashion house states. “A time machine, an archive, a library, a laboratory, and a meeting place.”
The items listed on the store, all part of ‘Edition #1: Discovery,’ have all been marked “vintage,” including designs from the 1960s in the form of bags, handkerchiefs, and clothing items. There are even homewares dating to the 80s.
Besides this concept, Gucci has also released a collection of 10 NFTs with global entertainment brand SUPERPLASTIC, suitably named Supergucci. It’s the first of the three-part series, which sees SUPERPLASTIC’s iconic characters clad in different “classic” Gucci patterns.
These were co-created by Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s head of design, and SUPERPLASTIC synthetic artists Janky and Guggimon.

Every token will have its own 8-inch ceramic sculpture, handcrafted by Gucci’s ceramicists in Italy. Only 250 will be made, and it’s safe to presume that they won’t be easy to come by.
The collection of tokens will be made available to purchase on February 1 on the SUPERPLASTIC website.
This isn’t Gucci’s first experience with NFTs—in May last year, the brand carried out an auction of a token based on the Gucci Aria collection.
