Challenge
The European Parliament has a massive website, it has several douzain thousand pages in 27 languages.
The navigation of the European Parliament is the key component of the website, with peak traffic before elections up to more than 1 million visitors a day, it can make or break the success of the website. The success ratio of tasks completion was really low (less than 50% success rate), it was then a priority for the renewal of the website to tackle this issue.
Solution
The EP decided to recruit and build a task force around the Top Tasks Analysis methodology creator, Gerry Mc Govern. The goal is to apply the method, and go over a massive ans iterative round of tests with users. After user tests for a first round of tests. We started working using, we accomplished:
- more than 50 stakeholders’ workshops,
- many design iterations,
- more than 6000 user tests,
- Complex url mapping and phasing plan to replace first the header and then mapping the pages bellow.
Results
The conversion rate jumped to 82% at the time (and the process of iterations was still ongoing at the end of my mission).
